I'm currently reading "Fast track to Heaven" by Lynn C.Jaynes. It is a witty, sarcastic take on her life. It is really a good read for LDS women giving some insights on life and not taking things so serious. Tammy

I really enjoyed "Gwenhwyfar" by Mercedes Lackey -- a very different "take" on the King Arthur legend, and a step away from her usual genres.

The recently released Watermark: A Novel of the Middle Ages by Vanitha Sankaran is historical fiction at its best. http://www.librarything.com/work/8904037 The story about the daughter of a papermaker takes place in a small French village and incorporates lots of information on papermaking, the Inquisition and life in the Middle Ages. I couldn't put it down!

Wishlisted. Not far from where we live is the village of Fontaine de Vaucluse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fontaine_de_Vaucluse). Besides the underground river which rises to the surface and spouts, there is an old papermill that is still in operation for the edification of the tourists. I wonder if the book is located near there.

Margot: The action in the book, Watermark, takes place in the south of France. The main village is Narbonne, but Carcassonne is also mentioned. Nevertheless, I am sure you will enjoy this book.

I just finished "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" by Stephen King. Oh, it was SOOOOO good!!! About a little girl lost in the woods, and she's a Red Sox fan. She loves the pitcher Tom Gordon, and imagines he's with her, keeping her company, so she won't be so all alone. I thought it was one of the best books he's ever written.

I just started reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. So far, I'm really enjoying it. He does a good job of making you feel like you're there and I feel like I really know the characters. I'm just finishing the first book now and am looking forward to the next one!

I'm currently half way through "Couldn't Keep It To Myself." It's a collection of essays and stories written by women in prison and was compiled and edited by Wally Lamb, who also taught creative writing to these women. It's fantastic and I highly recommend it!

I love to get book recommendations, so I am so excited this is here! I just finished Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. Pretty interesting, but not my fave. About a lady who is aging & outspoken. Her world continues to change & character studies are done about all those she knows. I love any good fiction. I'll have to look into the Stephen King book about Tom Gordon--King is an awesome author! And I love his non-horror books best. Thanx 4 the comments all!

Hi Jessica. I just finished "I Know This Much is True" by Wally Lamb. I thought it was terrific and immediately added his other fiction to my wishlist. Now that I see your recommendation for the non-fiction "Coudn't Keep It To Myself", I think I'll add it too. Thanks Joan M. Thanks for the link to LT for "Watermark". THE BOOK THIEF--historical fiction narrated by Death BY Markus Zusak
Oh a lovely read that you escape all reality. I read the book & listened to the audio. The dialect is fabulous, the story engrossing the characters surround you. Any book lover would have to ask themselves do I love books enough that I could have been Liesel? My daughter-in-law listened to me rave and within 20 minutes texted me "I soooo love this book, the author is a genius"! THE THIRTEENTH TALE--historical fiction. BY Diane Setterfield
A mystery love story for those again that love books. I read book and listened to audio. Beautiful prose. Anyone read I Am The Messenger from Markus Zusak? I would like to try another by him.

Kasey, if you were able to get all the way through "I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE" and rated it terrific then it must be. I picked it up last night at a thrift. The book is of great size.

I've just finished reading "The art of racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein and it's one of the best books I have ever read. The narrator is a dog and the story is seen through the eyes and soul of the dog-narrator. If you are a dog lover keep some kleenex handy as you might shed a few tears while reading this book, I've shed many (but I'm just a sissy...)

Bo, I thought I Am the Messenger was a great book. I read it in one sitting, I had to know how it would all wrap up. I have The Book Thief in my TBR shelf, I'm definitely moving it up my reading list.

Bo, I enjoyed I Am the Messenger as well. I read it before I read The Book Thief and it was what finally convinced me to give the latter, a try.

If you are raising a daughter, then Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls, by Mary Pipher, should be required reading. I never read parenting books when my girls were little, but once they hit adolescence, I found quite a few good books, but this was by far the best.

I recommend The Last Apprentice series by Joseph Delaney. It's a wonderful series of action,along with many other things. I truly enjoyed reading it.

Try These Books I would like to recommend the book "The Skull Mantra" by Eliot Pattison, a mystery that takes place in Tibet. It's the first one of a series and several of us have found it fantastic. Another good mystery series starts with "The Coroner's Lunch" that takes place in Laos circa 1975. Then, another one of my favorite series starts with "Heartshot" by Steven Havill. I better stop here!

That book about wolves sounds amazing, and the perfect present for my wolf-obsessed best friend. Unfortunately it seems to be out of print.

I just finished reading "Murder by Family" by Kent Whitaker. This book is based on a true story about how a sudden shooting kills two of the Whitaker family. When Kent's son Bart is accused of staging the murders Kent has to face the truth. A great and touching book about forgivness!
