The books come from a non-smoking household, but I do have a cat.

Bio:
I am a long-time lover of books. I read quickly and voraciously; when work and school don't bog me down, I go through books with astonishing speed. Bookmooch has been marvelous; I've enjoyed my time here so thoroughly -- my only qualm would be that sometimes the variety of books available to mooch is not the greatest. Some of my particular interests include Ireland, Celtic religion and culture, Irish language, writing, writing pedagogy, mythology, vegetarianism, Japan, Japanese culture (especially food!), Italy (especially Florence!), Italian, botany, environmental studies, travel writing, young adult literature, fantasy, Marcel Proust, higher education, anthropology, magic, Mormonism, Hinduism, religious studies and on and on .... A few of my favorite novels are The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Mrs. Dalloway by Virigina Woolf, and A Passage to India by EM Forster. I also particularly love Milan Kundera and Joan Didion. My other huge, consuming passion is music; check my last.fm account for more info on my tastes. I love recommendations of all kinds; if there's something you think I'd like, please let me know!

Many of my books are in "well loved" condition, because I am a fan of used bookstores myself and get a lot of them there. Any that were purchased new should be in "nearly new" shape. Any significant issues will be noted, but expect that they're not going to look like they came right off the shelf. I live in a non smoking house, but we also have three cats, so if you're allergic, take note.

I find that I am looking to really cut costs and establish a strict budget. As such, please ask if you want to mooch internationally. Depending on the size of the book and my money situation, I'll let you know if I can do it. I wish that I could send internationally without discretion, but that's not in the cards for me right now. When I ship books I normally wrap them in plastic shopping bags and then wrap them in paper shopping bags and apply packing tape liberally. They seem to ship quite well this way; I've never had anyone report a book arrived as damaged. If I have bubble mailers laying around, I'll use those too.

There's something undefined but undeniably exciting about sending a book abroad -- if I can't be a world traveler, at least the books can!
