Status message:
This charity will mooch books using your donated points and send them to troops overseas!!

Books that are mooched by this charity must meet the following guidelines:
Do not send books with loose, brittle, or missing pages, stains or water damage. Do not send books without front covers.
D.O.D. policy prohibits the distribution of materials that are sexually-oriented or racist.
Because they may go to a Muslim country, they must not show any female skin from the neck to the knees, either on the cover or inside the book. Do not send material critical of any religion.

Books mooched are sent to the following address, and are then separated into boxes for specific soldiers:

Selina Fansler
324 Bobcat Road
Newville, PA 17241-9725

(LaVonne is the liaison, however the books are sent to Selina Fansler)

We are always looking for military history books (any branch, any aspect: leadership, strategy, formations etc, any era) and biography/memoirs.

PLEASE send us ANY Dragonlance books you can!! We're not Sci-Fi / Fantasy experts, but our soldiers keep requesting them and there are SO many out there, we just don't know which ones to mooch! If you have a complete set (there are so many!), drop me an email and i'll mooch it!!!

Please note: Once we get a special request from a soldier or their loved one, I like to get his/her shipment out within two weeks. If your book will be delayed longer than two weeks, please let me know. The soldiers move around over there, and if I wait too long they'll have moved on, and the package may not find them. Thanks for understanding!!!

Bio:
Operation Paperback is a non-profit, grassroots program founded in 1999. We collect gently used books and send them to American troops deployed overseas.

Many of our troops are serving far from home and living in facilities that provide few of the comforts of home. At the end of the duty day, the opportunity to escape into a good book is welcomed. Every week we receive thanks from troops who are glad to be appreciated and remembered.

Some letters from OpPaperback recipients:
Thank you so much for the books you recently sent. Yours was actually the first box of books that I've received from Operation Paperback that was filled with books that I requested. Most of time, I receive a bunch of paperback fiction books (and I'm grateful for the support and encouragement that they represent). But my main interest is in military books--and that's exactly what you sent. Many thanks to you.

I am 2LT **** e-mailing you from the hottest place on earth. (Baghdad, Iraq) Thank You for everything you have done to get these books for me. Your the best I appreciate everything you did to get these. Life over here is pretty bad, getting mortared everyday, shot at outside the wire. Just your typical normal day in Baghdad, Iraq. I'm a Army Engineer and this is my second deployment
=======================
Just a few lines to let you know the Indian romances were received.
We were all excited. It's nice to read a good book after a hard day's work to get your mind off of the situation at hand. Thank you very much and please keep them coming!
